Elementary School Counselor - Part-Time

Position Overview

Ottoville Local Schools is seeking a student-centered, collaborative, and proactive Part-Time Elementary School Counselor to serve students in grades K–6. The successful candidate will support the academic, social-emotional, and career development needs of students while contributing to a positive, safe, and inclusive school culture.

This individual will work closely with teachers, families, administration, and community partners to ensure students are supported in reaching their full potential.

Essential Responsibilities:  Student Support & Counseling. Provide individual and small-group counseling services to students. Deliver classroom guidance lessons aligned to Ohio’s School Counseling Model. Support students with social-emotional learning, conflict resolution, and self-regulation skills. Assist students experiencing academic, behavioral, or personal challenges.

Academic & Behavioral Collaboration

  • Collaborate with teachers and administrators to identify and support at-risk students.

  • Participate in MTSS/RTI processes, problem-solving teams, and intervention planning.

  • Support positive behavior initiatives (PBIS) and school-wide culture efforts.

Family & Community Engagement

  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student needs and available resources.

  • Connect families with outside agencies and community support services when appropriate.

Crisis Response & Prevention

  • Assist in crisis intervention and response planning.

  • Support threat assessment protocols as needed.

  • Maintain documentation and follow-up related to student safety concerns.

Program Development

  • Implement a comprehensive, data-informed elementary school counseling program.

  • Use data to monitor program effectiveness and student outcomes.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with FERPA and district policies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid Ohio School Counselor License (K–12).

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in School Counseling preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of child development and elementary counseling practices.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a rural or small school district.

  • Knowledge of MTSS frameworks and trauma-informed practices.

  • Experience delivering SEL curriculum in classroom settings.

  • Ability to work independently in a part-time structure while remaining highly collaborative.

High School Boys Varsity Basketball Coach

Ottoville Local Schools is seeking a High School Boys Varsity Basketball Coach for the 2026/2027 season. The coach will be responsible for organizing practices, teaching basketball fundamentals, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship, supervising players, and ensuring compliance with district, league, and OHSAA rules. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential. Previous coaching or playing experience is preferred, and all required coaching certifications must be obtained prior to the season.
